A Huge List of Sales: Lavender Tekla and Tasseled Loafers

Photo-Illustration: The Strategist; Photos: Retailers

It’s been a very, very good week for sales, which is something I don’t usually get to say in the week or two leading up to a major holiday weekend. In the clothing department, Gap is having a sitewide sale (which, shockingly, includes its collaboration with Dôen); hundreds of items are 30 percent off at Reformation; & Other Stories launched a “Last Days of Summer” sale with an extra 30 percent off all sale items; and Everlane is discounting all of its jeans (both women’s and men’s).

On the beauty front, you only have a few more days to shop Dermstore’s Anniversary Sale before it ends on Sunday night. Beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst added even more Strategist-approved picks to the list of her favorite deals from the sale, and I’ve nabbed some of the must-buys for today’s roundup. (All my suggestions from last week are still on sale, too!) For even more beauty deals, writer Kitty Guo updated all the best beauty products on sale this week.

Some other sales of note: Labor Day sales have already started, at least for mattresses, so sleep writer Amelia Jerden has rounded up the best Labor Day mattress deals so far. (Keep your eyes peeled for my early Labor Day sales picks in every category next week, when more deals will start.) Back-to-school sales are still going strong, and I added several new ones to my roundup this week — and included some favorites here, like a cache of Dagne Dover and Herschel bags. Relatedly, junior writer Bella Druckman updated her roundup of the best products we’ve written about that are on sale at Amazon this week, and a lot of her finds are worth checking out for back-to-school shoppers, like colorful pens and an electric lunch box.

Finally, we just launched the Strategist Sales Alert newsletter! Make sure to sign up for daily sales sent directly to your inbox. You can also sign up for our regular email newsletter to receive even more deals each Friday hand-selected by yours truly.

This compact, expandable pill organizer (our favorite affordable option) is like a “medicine cabinet on the go.”

Dermstore’s Anniversary Sale ends on Sunday night, so this weekend is your last chance to shop. To help, I’m pulling out some of my top picks from the sale. First up: the salicylic-acid toner that writer Arielle Avila relied on throughout her early 20s to (successfully) eliminate stubborn blackheads. She still uses it as a spot treatment on her nose.

NūFace Mini Starter Kit
$154
$154

The NuFace has been lauded by our beauty columnistcelebrities, and dermatologists alike, one of whom says it “tightens and stops that sagging gravity effect. It just keeps everything nice and lifted.”

The luxe, celebrity-favorite toothpaste is now a bit more affordable for the rest of us.

From $40

If you’re not a fan of small round brushes, the Sonicare 4100 electric toothbrush has an oblong brush head. It’s our favorite model from the brand, and it’s also beloved by Bob the Drag Queen, who’s gotten compliments from dentists since incorporating it into his routine.

From $25

Strategist contributor Tobey Grumet Segal uses this Bluetooth-connected toothbrush to bribe her tweens into thoroughly brushing all parts of their mouths, twice a day. It provides prompts, a musical timer, and an interactive, competitive cleaning game on the free companion app.

This Lands’ End lunch box is only $11 and comes in nine fun prints, from outer space to cheetahs.

The solid-color version is on sale, too.

Crockpot Electric Lunch Box
$35
$35

Junior writer Bella Druckman also likes this keep-hot lunch tote that makes lukewarm leftovers a thing of the past. (She gave it to her boyfriend for his internship.)

A perennial favorite: Stasher’s reusable storage bags, now 25 percent off.

A hefty collection of colorful pens to last the entire school year for less than $2 apiece.

Some grippy-soled kids’ sneakers from Keen for hitting the playground or the park.

If your child’s school requires a uniform, I found plenty of inexpensive (but nice-looking!) options from French Toast on sale at Amazon.

Hanna Andersson’s pajamas are 40 percent off, which is about as good a deal as the brand offers outside of Black Friday. This fox-print set is particularly sweet.

$18

& Other Stories is offering an additional 30 percent off sale items this weekend (the discount will show up at checkout). I’m quite smitten with this $18 Breton top, which is made from 100 percent organic cotton.

From $42

A work-appropriate (but not too fusty) dress that’s on sale in seven patterns.

Everlane The Curvy Way-High Jean
From $68
From $68

If it’s finally cooled off enough for you to start thinking about jeans again, good news: All of Everlane’s jeans are on sale right now. I’m considering this curvy-fit pair, which a few friends have said offer nice support for wider hips.

$68

I’m also eyeing the Cheeky Straight jeans, which have been a Strategist favorite for years.

Our former associate editor Louis Cheslaw owns the athletic version of these stretch-denim jeans and says they “might just be the most comfortable I’ve ever owned.” The sizing is extensive, from waist size 28 to 40 and inseam length 28 to 34.

Reformation Jeremiah Top
$104
$104

Reformation almost never has sales, so fashion writer Ambar Pardilla happily rounded up the very best things in its Summer Sale, all for 30 percent off. Plenty of beautiful tops are included, like this not-at-all-boring “button-down.”

Reformation Mikayla Ballet Flat
$188
$188

From Reformation’s collaboration with the New York City Ballet.

Not an oxymoron — cool loafers!

And if you’re looking for some designer duds on sale, I found this Marine Serre top for nearly half off at Ssense.

YMC Mini Slot Scarf - Green
$46
$46

Scarf season isn’t here just yet, but I predict these slotted scarves will be cropping up all over town this autumn.

From $59

Time for some bags. Dagne Dover is having a sale-on-sale. Use code 25OFF to take an extra 25 percent off sale items at checkout. It looks like all of its Air Mesh styles are being retired, so now’s the time to get our best overall fanny pack, the Ace, for nearly 40 percent off.

The lightweight Landon bag is one of our favorites for flying. It also comes recommended by Paper fashion editor Mario Abad, who praises its “minimalist aesthetic” and durable fabric.

Dagne Dover Dakota Backpack - Medium
From $112
From $112

Strategist writer Arielle Avila is now a “backpack convert” after testing the Dakota backpack for our story on the best women’s work bags. “My laptop, notebooks, pens, and other miscellaneous things stay organized with its laptop compartment, two exterior zipper pockets, interior zipper pockets, and more. And it’s incredibly comfortable to carry around with its padded straps,” she says.

And if you’re looking for a simple canvas option, this one from Herschel Supply Co. is just $30.

The North Face Recon Backpack
From $72
From $72

A North Face backpack for good measure. This one is on sale in three colors: black at Nordstrom, and bright blue and orange at Zappos.

If you’re doing some dorm shopping, don’t forget a mattress protector. Luckily, our best overall pick is on sale right now.

Hay Matin Table Lamp - Large
$212
$212

Select items are 20 percent off at Design Within Reach through August 22. That includes our best overall bedside lamp, which I own and love. It comes in both small and large variations, as well as seven colors.

Hay Matin Table Lamp - Small
From $120
From $120

And already-on-sale items at DWR are an additional 20 percent off with the code EXTRA20, which makes the “bright-red” color of the above lamp (in size small) an especially good deal — 44 percent off!

I’ve been charmed by this knot-shaped throw pillow for years, and now it’s the lowest price I’ve ever seen it — in cream, light gray, and the lovely lavender shade.

Our best overall electric kettle is $55 off when you buy the version with a handsome maple-wood handle.

$23 for 2

I found a lot of pretty glassware on sale at Ssense. I think these would make even the simplest gin-and-tonic look fancy.

$23 for 2

Jamie Chung is a fan of the shorter version.

I’m not sure how useful this would be as a drinking cup, but it would be nice to hold bits and bobs on your desk, too.

SIN Prong Fruit Bowl - Small
$53
$53

We’ve long been fans of the coiled ceramic creations from Brooklyn-based designer Virginia Sin, and they rarely go on sale.

Audo Échasse Vase - Orange
$81
$81

I’ve also never seen anything from Audo (formerly known as Menu) be this discounted.

The time for colorful bath mats is nigh.

Baina Alta Bath Mat in Lake
$34
$34

The subtle striping is lovely on this one from Baina.

$80

If you’re deep into marathon training, the Fitbit Inspire 3 is excellent for anyone looking to track basic activity metrics like steps, calories burned, heart rate, and sleep data.
