Labor Day weekend (and the unofficial start of fall) is just over a week away, which means the end-of-summer and holiday sales are really ramping up. There are deals in pretty much every category, which deals editor Sam Daly has already started rounding up in her mega–Labor Day sales post, but I’ve noticed in particular a lot of discounts on both summer and fall apparel (now is a great time to get a swimsuit and a sweater, apparently). Today, I’m kicking things off with a dozen or so of the best finds from Aerie, Summersalt, Reformation, REI, and more.
Several beauty brands currently have sales on Strategist-favorite products, too. Supergoop’s Friends & Family Sale started yesterday; Solawave is taking 35 percent off for Labor Day; and Drybar just launched a sitewide 30 percent off sale. I pulled some of my favorites from each of those, and added in a few other great beauty deals from around the web.
It doesn’t stop there: The sales are truly abundant, so I’ve rounded up several others on furniture, tech (particularly back-to-school gear), home décor (Ssense still has so much good stuff), and kitchen items (including a bunch of Staub at Target, which junior writer Bella Druckman noticed yesterday while rounding up the best Target deals on things we’ve written about).
If you can believe it, even more Labor Day deals will most certainly start next week as we approach the holiday, so sign up for the new Strategist Sales Alert newsletter to receive each day’s best deals in your inbox. Yes, summer is ending, but that makes right now the ideal time to get next year’s swimsuit on a major discount. Case in point: This Aerie bikini, which fashion writer Ambar Pardilla recently named one of the best upon recommendation of Ruby Buddemeyer, director of copy and concept at Starface. It’s now just $12.
And matching bottoms, also $12. That’s a full bikini for less than $25.
Also included in Pardilla’s roundup is this one-shoulder one-piece, which comes in 16 colors and is 30 percent off as part of Summersalt’s Endless Summer sale with the code SUN30.
One more swimsuit deal (though there are many more to be found): Araks’ annual swim sale is ongoing, with up to 70 percent off suits. This one, a favorite of senior editor Hilary Reid, is as low as $124 in the lilac color shown here. Black and red are also available for a slightly smaller discount.
Keeping with summer clothes for a moment: Reformation’s (ultrarare) Summer Sale just got even better: The brand added new items this week and increased the discount to 50 percent off. This ultracropped knit top would be equally nice for lounging or wearing out. It’s $29 in the white shown here, and $39 for two striped colorways.
If you go the lounging route, pair the above shirt with these cozy knit shorts. (This colorway is called “sundried tomato,” which I love.)
It’s not often Reformation’s jeans go on sale — much less for half off. Unsurprisingly, size availability varies drastically by style, but you can still get the “cloquet” colorway of our one of our favorite pairs of high-waisted jeans (and mom jeans) in every size for just $84. I own them in black (also on sale for $84 with most sizes available) and would get another pair in a heartbeat.
For little kids, there’s so much adorable stuff for half of at Makié. Are you kidding me with these bloomers?
ICYMI yesterday: All of G.H. Bass’s best-selling styles are 30 percent off with the code LOVE30 (another very rare sale). All three G.H. pairs we recommended in our piece on the best women’s loafers are part of the sale, including the Liannas, one of our favorite lug-sole pairs.
There are plenty of men’s styles on sale, too, including the very classic-looking Larson Weejuns.
In more fall-fashion sales news, Everlane’s sale just got a bit better, with up to 70 percent off select styles — and some of the best deals (with the most size availability) are on warmer-weather essentials. I like this ultrasimple fleece crewneck, which is 70 percent off in white and the navy shown here.
The women’s section has more varied size availability, but the deals are so good that it’s worth poking around a bit. Among the better deals is the classic Alpaca crew for as low as $35. This camel color has the most sizes available, but each of the other colors have a couple of sizes, too.
Two colors of the mule version of Everlane’s Glove boot (one of our favorite pairs of ankle boots) are marked way down. The pastel green shown here is the cheaper of the two, at $47, but the slightly more neutral (and very autumnal) “fudge” colorway is only a little more at $59.
REI’s Labor Day sale started this morning, and there are several worthy deals (see today’s Deal of the Day featuring half-off Patagonia Baggies). But if you’re only interested in shopping for cooler days ahead, go for the Darn Tough socks. They’re our best overall wool socks, and there are plenty of colors and sizes available, all for 25 percent off.
Same deal on the women’s pairs — lots of colors and sizes, all 25 percent off!
Through August 28, all products at Supergoop are 20 percent off, and orders over $100 are 25 percent off for its Friends and Family Sale. (The discount automatically applies at checkout.) I’d recommend using the sale as an opportunity to stock up on the brand’s Unseen Sunscreen — perhaps its most popular product.
Also worth trying or restocking: Our favorite face sunscreen for exercising outdoors (because, yes, you still need it in the fall).
The red-light face wand that actually works is nearly $60 off for Labor Day at Solawave.
If you didn’t buy our favorite teeth-whitening strips earlier this week, when we featured them as the Deal of the Day, here’s a second chance. They’re still just $30, or $1.37 per treatment.
And a pack for those with sensitive teeth (me).
Great deal on one of Rio’s favorite affordable products for dehydrated skin. Grab it now ahead of indoor-heating (a.k.a. dry skin) season.
While updating our guide to the best self-tanners this week, beauty writer Rachael Griffiths noticed the best one for sensitive skin (from the same brand that makes our best overall tanner, Bondi Sands) is 30 percent off.
Drybar launched a sitewide 30 percent off sale today, bringing the price of its double-shot blow-dryer brush — the one our beauty writer, Dominique Pariso, named the best of the best — down to just over $100.
Deals editor Sam Daly’s beloved Kindle Paperwhite (for kids) didn’t go on sale for Prime Day, so now is the time to buy.
Get ’em ahead of holiday travel so that when your suitcase ends up in Idaho, you at least know where it is.
Or, if you just want something inexpensive, here’s a now-under-$50 pair from the same expert-approved brand.
Comedian Chris Redd has been traveling with this speaker, which he endearingly calls the “beach pill,” forever. “It’s just the cleanest speaker to me,” he says. “It’s durable as hell. I feel like you could shoot it and it’d be all right.”
For everyone running a marathon this fall — which is apparently everyone? — our best overall running watch is now a full $100 cheaper as part of REI’s Labor Day sale.
Earlier this week, writer Lauren Ro rounded up the best deals from Ssense’s home sale — because there are still so many tempting items. I really like this checked towel from Baina …
… And this terribly realistic cracked-egg candle (which is a whopping $175 off).
While searching for the best deals, Ro also found quite a lot of kids’ bags that are equally suitable for adults, and they’re too good not to share — starting with this groovy backpack that would make a great mini-tote for adults.
Also in the Ssense sales bin: A Smythson notebook for a shockingly low price.
On the furniture front, Article’s Labor Day sale recently started, and it’s better than most of the brand’s other sales have been this summer, with up to 40 percent off (past sales have only been up to 30 percent off). The Sven sofa has long been one of our favorite couches, and the velvet version is $450 off in select colors right now.
I’ve longed to buy this just-interesting-enough olive-green West Elm lamp for my entryway console for years, and I’m tempted now that it’s $30 cheaper.
A $150 vacuum from Shark is always worth noting.
There’s a cache of Staub Dutch ovens and baking dishes on sale at Target right now, which junior writer Bella Druckman noticed while rounding up the best Strategist-approved items on sale there yesterday. One especially fun find: This artichoke-shaped Staub cocotte (which Bella bought in the tomato form earlier this year).
For something simpler: a tiny Dutch oven, also from Staub.
Finally, Brightland’s End of Summer Soirée Sale just started, too (at noon today, to be exact), and select summer sets are 20 percent off. If you’re new to the brand, start with the Essential Capsule, which includes its two best-selling olive oils and vinegars. The sale ends on Monday, August 26, at midnight PT, so don’t delay too long.
