A Huge List of Sales: Tiny Bags and Loads of Beauty

Photo-Illustration: The Strategist; Photos: Retailers

It was a big week for beauty sales. Soko Glam’s Summer Sale launched with up to half off K-beauty products; Bella Druckman found a few dozen Strategist-approved beauty products on sale at Sephora right now; and, of course, Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale (which ends Sunday night) has a whole slew of great beauty deals. I’ve included some of my favorites from all of those sales, plus a few other great beauty things on sale from around the web.

Although we are a mere two days into August, there’s also quite a bit of end-of-season clothes and gear on sale. I found some decent discounts on summer clothing at J.Crew, Banana Republic, and Lisa Says Gah, including lots of linen, which I’d recommend getting now while there are still a load of sizes available. Same goes for Backcountry and Mammut, which both launched sales yesterday on all sorts of outdoors gear. (But if you, like me, are waiting for cooler weather, there’s plenty of fall and winter gear in both sales too.) And I’m sorry to say, but the back-to-school deals are already starting to roll in, with on-sale clothes, shoes, and backpacks. I’ve plucked my favorites from each below, along with several other just-very-good deals because there are so many this week.

And, as always, make sure to sign up for our email newsletter for even more sales coverage — including extra deals each Friday hand-selected by yours truly.

$22

Our favorite affordable eye cream is the cheapest I’ve seen it in a long time at just under $20. It contains both collagen-boosting retinol and moisturizing hyaluronic acid, which help to improve the look of fine lines and plump the skin.

Sephora’s sales bin has several Strategist-favorite beauty products in the mix, including Ole Henriksen’s “sunny-smelling lotion” that beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst named the best exfoliating lotion for dry skin.

This best-selling lip plumper contains a species of chile pepper to help give you that perfect plump.

I’ve been really wanting to try this lip plumper from Strat-approved brand CosRX, though.

K-beauty essentials are up to 50 percent off during Soko Glam’s Summer Sale. Twenty percent off CosRX’s pimple patches isn’t groundbreaking, but if you need to restock, now’s the time.

If this summer’s relentless humidity is destroying your hair, might I suggest trying British M’s hair oil? Says Rio Viera-Newton: “It is just far superior to all the other hair oils I’ve tried. It never, ever weighs my hair down or makes it look wet or sticky, even if I use a touch too much.”

Another Rio favorite. This one, she says, makes a nice alternative to her beloved CosRX Snail Mucin when she needs to kick up her hydration a notch.

Dieux Deliverance Serum

The serum that “is as good as everyone says,” according to writer Dominique Pariso, is 20 percent off for Strategist readers with the code STRAT20.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a good time to stock up on beauty products. Case in point: The megasize version of our best overall shampoo is over 40 percent off. But remember, the sale ends Sunday night, so don’t dillydally.

The secret to “rich person skin” rarely goes on sale, so now’s the best time to nab this full- and travel-size duo for 23 percent off.

A heavy-duty hand salve for year-round hydration, recommended by beauty editors, health-care professionals, and hand models alike.

In my opinion, the best deals at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale are in the fashion section, especially undergarments. Our favorite contouring bra is now under $50 — and it’s been a reader favorite in the sale so far, too.

Just-right-height socks from one of our favorite sock brands.

Here’s a less obvious version of Longchamp’s beloved Le Pliage tote. The zippers on the bag can be zipped and unzipped to make it longer or shorter.

At J.Crew, select items are up to 30 percent off through August 5. I can’t decide if I like these pajamas best in the “dark evening” color shown here or the very classic-looking white-with-navy-trim combo.

Get your discounted linen now while it’s still in stock in all sizes.

Banana Republic also has an extra 30 percent off sale right now, which includes already-discounted items. I love how simple (and, now, cheap) this linen dress is, with just a touch of puff in the sleeves.

Some office-appropriate linen, available in black, white, and the warm clay brown pictured here.

At Lisa Says Gah, dresses and select shoes are 30 percent off this weekend with the code DRESS30. I really like this nightgown-esque mini from Sonderhaus Studios.

A very fun, eye-catching body-con from Tyler McGillivary.

Steve Madden Kenna - Blue
$35
$35

Some extra-on-sale sandals if you already have enough tan and black pairs.

$58

Only NY just added a lot of nice shorts and tees to its sale section. These track shorts (which come in three colors) are quite similar to a pair recommended by a former Strategist writer.

$48

I’m intrigued by this waffle-knit tee, which is flirting (nicely) with the line of “elevated pajama top.”

Hunza G Nancy Bikini Set
$161
$161

The best time to buy a Hunza G swimsuit is when it’s an on-sale Hunza G swimsuit. You’ll thank yourself next summer.

JW Anderson Embroidered Visor
$72
$72

To be worn with the above.

Backcountry’s Semi-Annual Sale began yesterday, and the deals truly run the gamut — there’s summer clothes, winter clothes, camping gear, hiking gear, and a lot more. But I’d suggest going for the Smartwool socks, if nothing else. They’re among our favorite wool-sock brands, especially for running and hiking, and $12 is a very good price for them. If you prefer a different height or style, take a look through the whole sale, as there are many more pairs available.

Patagonia Duckbill Cap
$25
$25

But you can’t go wrong with a classic mesh duckbill cap, either.

$40

It’s not at all the season, but this is a nice-looking chore coat for just $40.

Mammut Runbold Hat
$32
$32

Mammut’s Summer Sale just started, too, and if you, like me, will not be participating in outdoor movement until the humidity calms the heck down, you’re in luck: There are plenty of coats and jackets (and one of our favorite pairs of touch-screen gloves!) for 30 percent off. But for those who do want to venture outdoors, there’s plenty of summer stuff, too. I particularly like this olive-green hat that has UPF 50+ for maximal sun protection.

There’s a cache of tiny bags on sale at Ssense. I’m kind of into this corduroy shoulder bag from Carhartt’s WIP line — especially at less than $20.

Ganni Black Tech Pouch Bag
$68
$68

Understated Ganni for over half off.

A.P.C. Pink Demi-Lune Clutch
$143
$143

And a cute, cheery A.P.C. demi-lune!

At Target, lots of kids’ clothing and accessories are 30 percent off, including this simple pair of girls’ skinny jeans.

$15

Not sure these will be allowed in the classroom, but there’s still plenty of time for the kids to rock these poolside this summer — or post-soccer practice once fall rolls around.

$13

There are lots of cute backpacks on sale at Target too — and most are under $20.

And for adults, this work-appropriate backpack from Lo & Sons is half off. Strategist writer Katherine Gillespie also likes it as a personal-item bag: She took it as her only luggage on a weeklong train trip across Turkey and Georgia and it fit everything she needed (including an extra pair of shoes).

For the budding fragrance boy.

From $30

Last week, I found several lamps on sale at Schoolhouse, and there are still some good home-décor finds there this week, like this delicate flower-print pillow sham.

I also like this striped linen option, for something a tad more neutral.

And a truly neutral option (thought with a fun scalloped edge) that would work in just about any room.

Nice price on this charming floral duvet, on sale in the “bellini” colorway only.

For solid-colored bedding, Nordstrom has a few Parachute items on sale. I like this rich “agave” color for fall.

Sijo’s cooling eucalyptus sheets are “so smooth and slippery” that our former senior editor, Chelsea Peng, told us she can barely feel the difference in texture between her silk pillowcase and these sheets.

Zara’s kids’ section continues to surprise and delight, most recently with this adorable duvet cover that’s somehow only $18.

While we’re on the subject of sleep, Wayfair has a bedding sale going on right now, with up to 60 percent off pillows, sheets, and more. A lot of the discounts are 15 percent or less, but I did find our best overall mattress topper for nearly 30 percent off.

Bialetti Moka Express Alpina
$35
$35

An especially Italian-looking Moka pot that you can (and really should) leave out on the countertop.

$54 for 4

And some equally display-worthy stoneware teacups, available in a range of bright colors.

One of my favorite nonalcoholic beverage brands, Recess, just released another line of sparkling mocktails. The sampler set — which features a “Cosmopolitan,” grapefruit “Paloma,” lime “margarita,” and tropical “spritz” — is 20 percent off with the on-site coupon.
